Marvellous Marafiki – A Zanzibari Adventure

Home // Marvellous Marafiki – A Zanzibari Adventure

Located on beautiful, serene Kiwengwa Beach, Marafiki Bungalows offers travellers an oasis of calm and tranquil beach living – the perfect getaway to the island paradise of Zanzibar. The rooms at Marafiki are housed in traditional bungalow units, featuring local Zanzibari architecture and dried palm leaves for roofing. The furniture is locally crafted and the interiors are complemented with ocean-coloured overlays created using traditional looms. Every room is fitted with a private bathroom and a shower at the terrace.  Imagine the sun, the sound of the waves, the refreshing breeze from the ocean. Or maybe this: the sun, birds chirping, and a jungle of tropical flora. Whichever room you choose, overlooking the ocean or the garden, you will be delighted with the intensity of colours and the tranquillity of Zanzibar. Guests can enjoy local and European cuisine at the restaurant, followed by a drink at the bar, both overlooking the ocean and infinity pool. Food plays an important role in our culture and taste is one of the senses enabling perception. This is why we do our best to ensure that our restaurant and our food are an invitation to a sensual journey deep into the richness of the island. Developing the menu we were inspired by the traditional Zanzibar cuisine. We combined Zanzibar’s natural treasures: fish and seafood, tropical fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices with the specialities of Western cuisine. The dishes are varied, fresh and healthy, and they smell of spices. Once you add the European aesthetics of display, this culinary  paradise makes eating a pleasure for all the senses. Enjoy! The area offers plenty of various activities, including snorkelling, diving or kite surfing. Although Zanzibar is not a big island, there are many places to visit here. These are mainly natural attractions which allow you to get to know the local flora and fauna (mango trees, coconut palms, monkeys, turtles, dolphins). Some trips, e.g. those by quads, allow you to observe the life of villagers from a close distance. Lovers of sightseeing won’t want to miss out on a visit to the oldest district of the capital of Zanzibar: Stone Town. In the labyrinth of narrow streets there are many shops offering artefacts, paintings and clothes. We are willing to share hints and assist you in organising all kinds of trips. Just ask  a receptionist or one of our managers.
